GLENMORE LODGE FOR THE PROVINCE OF SURREY
CHARITY SPONSORED WALK 3rd JULY 2016
With the approach of the 2019 Festival, the Province has asked for every Lodge in Surrey to participate in a sponsored event. If you are still unsure what to do, or you may already have an event and would like to also do something extra, then this might be just what you are looking for.
ON SUNDAY 3rd JULY during the weekend of THE BIG WEEK there will be an organised sponsored event for all Lodges in Surrey to join in.
The event will consist of a pleasant 50 minute riverside walk starting at approximately 11.30am on the towpath from Kingston Bridge and finish at Hampton court palace (see route map).
This particular route has been chosen as it enables everyone regardless of age to take part.
Hampton Court has kindly extended its hospitality by providing us with an area within the grounds of the palace where we can enjoy a picnic with our family and friends. So by all means bring some food and drink along and make it a fun experience for all.
Brethren or families members who own a Boat on the Thames could also play their part by following the walkers as a flotilla down the river adding to the overall spectacle of this event. This will also create media coverage (Local Radio and the Press have expressed an interest in covering the event but only if we have a large number of people or boats involved).
As there are over 300 Lodges and over 7500 masons in Surrey. If each lodge participates with only two members, this will give us over 600 Walkers on the day! Please contact the Glenmore Lodge Charity Steward for more information or sponsorship forms.
